Back from the Dead!

Avoiding the pun in the title, hopefully my workload has cleared up a little... or it appears to have anyway.

So, obviously I haven't done much this time, especially not in the case of level designing.

What's been done is:

- New additions to "Extras" menu, including shop
- Gallery for images (currently only got 2 in the bonus shop)
- Resizing... everything
- New inventory Sprites: Handgun, HG Ammo, Combat Knife, ID Card. Also I have done herbs + Mixed Herbs.
 - -

And now, this brings me onto the two polls, that's right, two at the same time.

The first one will be if FAPCOM should continue to resize everything. He's currently scaling everything to about 2x the size it was before, which means more detail, and hopefully more fluid animations. He also says that it takes the same amount of time as it does for the normal sprites, so I'm putting up a poll whether to go with it. The downside to the large sprites is that I will have to re-code a lot of things, I will need to remake all the levels, and I won't release the new sprites until they're all done, since the size is too different to allow the "inconsistencies" like before.

The second one is about a game over pic. I thought, hey, I'll try my hand at making one, and so, off I went with my laptop touch pad and photoshop. I had drawn up a basic pose, then FAPCOM came on and now he's taken over from me, sketching it in 10x more detail. The game over pic itself is a generic death one (not electrocution, but bites, claws, etc.), and so, I wanted to ask the question: How much blood (and maybe some gore. Yes, I said it!) do you want to see in it? After watching the "Dead" movies (George A. Romero is god), I realised that the Resident Evil series is extremely lightened down, but I want to keep its dark atmosphere. So, I'm asking you, on a scale of no blood or gore to George Romero, how much do you want to see?

  1. Glad to hear your workload has lightened up. Was getting a little down from checking everyday only to find the same old comments.

In regards to the sprites, i think they're fine as it is. Granted, they could use some tuning up, but I'm not expecting this Picasso level kind of quality from you guys. And boo to recoding as well. In regards to game over screens, I'm the kind of guy that likes the gave over screens that RE's have; the blood colored fade out with your character on the ground dead (with changes to the body if killed by a finisher). If my understanding is correct, the endings would entail Guro or Guro rape. To each his own, but perhaps we can have the option to disable endings or select traditional RE endings.

That's my two cents, Keep up the good work.

  2. So you mean, including "white-out" on death, which will go to a different (and less gruesome) picture compared to if you chose no white-out and saw the death?

  3. personally i dont mind some blood but beyond that isnt really my cup of tea. depending on poll results which currently seem to be going from very light to straight on heavy, id say a double option might be needed for that depending how the poll ends.

  4. Pleeease no gore. Nothing kills a hard on faster then blood and gore. There should be at least an option to turn it off if people want it that badly.

There should be a gallery mode to view the different rape animations. Understand, most of the perverts playing this game just wanna see Rebbecca get raped, it would be nice to provide that service.

  5. Erm Anon, it's just a fetish, some would say that beastiality kills a hard-on, whereas I'll be fapping away to it. I'll probably do the "white-out" thing that I discussed (A toggle option that changes between classic RE style deaths and the more gorey ones), but I don't think some blood would be that bad, and it would definitely fit the dark style.

Also, there will be, I've already planned it, there will be an extra called "Gallery" for pictures, and an extra called "The Laboratory" for animations.

  6. @Z-fied: maybe, but i had game over animations like in RE remake... or if you want to do one better, the game over animation that was in the RE remake trailer (shows the body, and then goes bloody hazy with the words, "you died"). Bonus if you can get music similar to the one in the trailer when you die.

  7. Oops, the trailer i saw had the RE remake scenes in it. My mistake. I'm all for gore in game, but nothing like showing Rebecca being ripped to shreds in a picture, or worse, being raped while eaten. That shit's a turn off for me (as is bestiality), but ultimately, everyone's tastes should be considered (unless it's illegal lol).

If evasions are going to be taken out, perhaps Rebecca can learn some Spec Ops training that will allow her to shoulder charge or trip zombies when they try to bite her/grapple her. Perhaps add a scene in where Rebecca gets access to a bat, so she can knock back enemies (bat can break though).

  8. Hey Z-fied, I'll be posting some thoughts on the LOK forums; they don't pertain to the subject at hand, so LOK would be better for what i'm going to post.

  9. I voted for some blood, because, though I'm not by far a fan of guro, if a scene is completely dry, particularly one involving combat, or zombies, then it seems almost, unrealistic to me. I mean, at very least even if you like to think that the zombies are giving the girl hickies rather than nomming them, they zombies are bloody, being grabbed by them should generate some blood.

On another note, I am getting really annoyed with the 'talking to the dead guy' difficulties. I don't know what it is, maybe the zombies have to be down, in which case it's really hard to get both of them down at the same time due to the slow fire speed of the gun, or maybe you have to be not crouching, I am assuming that you do due to the fact that he's on the ground and most of the time talking to people while standing over them don't hear too well, or maybe there's just a REALLY specific space you have to be standing in to get to activate the scene, but for like the first 9 times I played this game I thought that was as far as it went because I simply COULD NOT activate that scene. So my question is; Could you either tell me what I'm doing wrong? Or make it easier to talk to that flippin' guy?

  10. I agree with you Anon, I myself think a completely dry scene is unrealistic.

With your "Talking to the dead guy", basically your problem is that the zombies aren't dead. You have to make sure they don't get up again before you can talk to him, it's not just knocking them down.

  11. My stance on blood/gore is this:

    Blood:
-Fine, so long as the amount and presentation is appropriate (for example, if she's simply dead, a picture of her lying on the floor in a pool of blood is ok)

    Gore:
-Generally, no, as said before it's a turnoff for most people, but in a non-H game over scene it might be applicable (like for example, a GO scene showing the character as a zombie then gore might be ok)

  12. I went for some blood, although there should be an ending for when your, quote 'screwed to death', and one for when your actually killed.

Actually, that gives me an interesting idea...hmm..need to think it over though...

  13. I personally am one for the endless rape endings if you happen to fall. Game Over screen would be nice if it was after you hit a key to exit that. Watching her get taken over and over again, that's just hot.

As for the gore I mean, its a zombie game. I would like to see it limited to about as bad as RE gets as I'm not a guro fan but that's just my vote.

Again I say though, endless rape For The Win!

  14. A curiosity question. Is there any possibility of adding more grapple dialogue (particurly, in the submit section)? It gets kinda repeative, and would be nice if there was more flavor to it.

As an aside, I love the voice actor. Kudos to you Catgirl!!

  15. yes and more voices would be awesome :)

  16. Dun' want much blood, dun' want ANY gore or guro, and if they're going to be in there, Do want an option to turn them off.

And yeah, endless rape for the endless win.

  17. I already said this, there will be different pictures for EACH TYPE OF GAME OVER. The blood/gore is just for the biting/clawing/damage deaths, whereas there'll be different pictures for dying from rape and infection!

I'll respond to your other points later.

  18. Well, some gore will add the realistic and horror nature of this game.

  19. Since Some blood won in the Poll,i must say it was a ''must have some blood'' since the zombies are actually bleeding everywhere and getting shot.....and stabbed...

still would have been funny to add 'George Romero' cheat or something like that were you only touch something (Dunno, even the car) and it explodes into blood lol

    any news from this?

    anyhow good luck!

  20. @Mr.Verified
That idea could possibly be an interesting feature but instead of a cheat, perhaps an unlockable mode after beating the game or perhaps scoring a certain score/kill count in mercenarys.

Probably best to leave adding extras like that till after the games been fully made though. Best to get the main structure built before adding the patio.
